QUENCHED

Oh! Isle of rock in an ocean of sorrow
Rescue me upon your shores
You invite the weary
Iam so
Shelter me among your trees
For warmth is what I need
Invite me to your spring
That I may drink your water
Precious nectar to a parched sole
Like a love lost then returned

A lament stark and echoing as the sound of surf on the rock you set down, then the ending with its wistful hope of solace. Classic and very elegant free verse. Thanks for linking up today with One Stop and giving me the opportunity to read this.

  3. Such a deep longing. Hoping your thirst is quenched by the love that has returned.
