That man in the mirror
the one I see,
is he the one papa
wanted for me?
Have I kept my word, and lived my life
to be the man worthy
of his beautiful wife?
That man in my mirror
The one you see,
does he show honor
is he truly free,
from jealousy, hatred, cruelty ?
Has he been kind
to his fellow man
ready to offer his helping hand?
Is his word rock solid,
a steadfast bond?
Or does he crumble when the pressures on?
Would my papa be proud
of who I’ve become
Am I the guy, to whom grandchildren run?
Has he served his creator
as he should have done?
Has he shared the goodness of God’s son?
That man in my mirror
do his children know
how much he loves them
has it always shown?
H and E and DJ too,
The old man loves you and all you do!
Humility, Integrity, competent and true,
these are the traits I so want for you.
Alone in his thoughts,
that reflecting soul
it becomes so clear as we get old.
It’s not about winning or stacking up stuff,
but what I will leave
when life’s been enough.
I so hope and pray,
that all I conveyed
will somehow make a difference in your living today.
the man in the mirror is sometimes hard to look at as we can be our hardest critic...you are right there are no treasures on earth worth their weight in what awaits
